6th Annual Mesilla Jazz Happening

The 6th Annual Mesilla Jazz Happening will take place in Old Mesilla October 6th and 7th. The annual event offers free live music, a wine garden, jazz dancers and a relaxed atmosphere. The festival will provide a weekend of great family entertainment in beautiful Mesilla.

Proceeds from the two day event benefit the Old Mesilla Association, a non-profit organization created to celebrate and promote the historic and cultural aspects of the Old Mesilla. The event would not be possible without the generous support of many sponsors. Price’s Creameries is the presenting sponsor for this year’s event. Other sponsors are: La Posta, Old Mesilla Association, New Mexico Tourism, Southwest Abstract and Title, Southwest Cash and Carry, Pepsi, Bank of the Rio Grande, Las Cruces Bulletin, the Town of Mesilla, Innovative Touch, and St. Claire Winery.

Music, and lots of it, will grace the stage on Saturday, October 6, from noon – 9:00 pm and on Sunday, October 7, from noon – 7:00 pm. Local talent representing all musical genres will keep you entertained throughout the day. Entertainers include: Billy Townes & Modern Session, Guitar Slim, Border Jazz Quintet, the Creole Dixieland Jazz Band, the Ruben Gutierrez Quintet, Rio Duende, JazzWorks, and Nosotros.

Accompanying each stage will be a wine garden featuring a variety of New Mexico wineries including: St. Clair, DH Lescombes, Blue Teal, Luna Rossa. For only $10, festival goers may purchase a souvenir wine glass and sample wines from all the wineries. Wine will also be for sale by the glass, bottle or case.
